Sophos Antivirus will replace Symantec Antivirus on Tuesday, April 16 as part of OIT’s ongoing efforts to provide the campus community with the best possible technology experience. This change offers improved security and performance.

UNLV Computers

On computers managed by OIT, Symantec will be removed and replaced with Sophos automatically. Your system will restart as part of the normal update process, and there is nothing additional that you need to do.

For computers not managed by OIT, we have worked with technical administrators to assist with this change.

Symantec previously discontinued the free home use benefit. If you have previously installed Symantec, using the UNLV license, the software will continue to operate but will no longer receive virus updates.
